Source & Traceability
Raw Material Origin:
We obtain kelp from 3 recognised grades:
Food/Health Product Grade: Whole, thick kelp leaves taken from unpolluted nearshore seas in Weihai, Yantai, Fujian and Liaoning (China) and clean waters in Chile and Northern Europe. Strict controls guarantee resistance to rot, dirt, yellowing, heavy metals and marine pollutants.
Organic Grade: Certified marine regions kelp with USDA and EU organic certifications. Production lines are separated to avoid cross-contamination. Fast drying at low temperatures maintains polysaccharide structures.
Our supply chain has full maritime traceability documentation. We use HPLC thin layer chromatography to distinguish true kelp from inferior mixed algae.

Solubility & Stability Profile
Solubility:
· Easily soluble in hot water
· Dissolves slowly in cold water (may cause slight turbidity)
· Insoluble in vegetable and mineral oils
· Cyclodextrin-encapsulated versions available for instant cold-water dissolution
Stability:
· Temperature: Stable long-term at ≤65℃; prolonged heating above 80℃ degrades polysaccharides
· pH Range: Optimal stability between pH 5.0-8.0
· Light: Dry powder stable when sealed; aqueous solutions prone to oxidation with light exposure
· Hygroscopicity: Store in sealed containers at <60% humidity
Recommended Storage: Cool, dark, sealed environment; shelf life of 24 months unopened.

Manufacturing Process
Our production follows strict quality control at every stage to deliver pharmaceutical-grade Kelp Extract Powder kelp extracts.
Raw Material Pretreatment:
Incoming kelp undergoes marine origin verification using HPTLC to distinguish from inferior algae species. Rotten or contaminated materials are manually removed. Hot air drying at 40-45℃ reduces moisture to ≤10% while protecting polysaccharide chains. Pulverization to 20-30 mesh increases extraction efficiency.
Hot Water Countercurrent Extraction:
We utilise purified water with material ratio 1:10-1:12 at 60-65℃. Maximum yield of polysaccharides requires four and half hours time for three-stage countercurrent extraction. This delicate method eliminates the use of harsh solvents and retains bioactivity.
Multi-Stage, Solid-Liquid Separation:
Coarse fibres are removed via bag filtering. Plate-and-frame filtration is a protein-retentive kind. Clear transparent filtrate with water soluble polysaccharides is obtained using precision ultrafiltration membranes.
Vacuum Concentration at Low Temperatures:
Negative pressure concentration keeps the temperature at ≤60℃ to avoid polysaccharide hydrolysis. The concentrate contains 18 to 25 percent solids.
Graded Refining:
· 4:1 Crude Extract: Direct spray drying with minimal purification
· 10:1 Concentrated Extract: Simple sedimentation removes large colloids
· 10%/20%/30% Standardized Fucoidan: Ion exchange and macroporous resin purification for high-purity polysaccharides
For iodine-sensitive applications, the ion-exchange water-washing procedure is extended for the thorough removal of free iodine.
Drying & Finishing:
Spray drying at 145℃ inlet and ≤70℃ outflow, results in 80-120 mesh powder. Standardised fucoidan is gently vacuum dried at 42-48℃. The procedure is finished by final sifting, consistent mixing and vacuum-sealed aluminium foil packing.
Full Test:
All batches are analysed for total polysaccharides by phenol-sulfuric acid technique, fucoidan by HPLC, iodine by titration, heavy metals by ICP-MS and solvent residues by GC-MS. We supply COA, MSDS and chromatograms. SGS and Eurofins provide third party retesting services.

FAQ
Q: Do you use fresh or old kelp as raw material?
A: We exclusively use entire, thick, fresh kelp leaves from the current season. Manual sorting eliminates any yellowed, rotting or muddy material, with steady polysaccharide content and less chance of heavy metals contamination.
Q: What's the difference between 4:1, 10:1, and standardized grades?
A. 4:1 crude extract is more impure and used for budget formulations. The 10:1 concentrated extract is the greatest value for money among conventional supplements. 10%/ 30% standardised fucoidan is purified for accurate active ingredient control, suitable for high-end goods and cosmetics.
Q. Is there a cold water soluble version?
A: Yes, our β-cyclodextrin encapsulated rapid dissolving powder dissolves fast in hot and cold water to provide clear solutions which are suitable for drinks and liquid supplements.
Q: How do you test for polysaccharides and fucoidan?
A: Total polysaccharides were determined by the phenol sulphuric acid technique and fucoidan by HPLC. Test and COA chromatograms will be included in each batch.
Q: Do you do low or no-iodine specs?
A: Completely. For iodine sensitive applications we customise iodine removal by longer ion exchange washing.
